Tuition Assistance

2022-2023 TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS

The purpose of the tuition assistance programs at Seton Catholic School is to aide families currently experiencing financial hardship. Seton School is committed to making a Catholic education as affordable as possible for our families.

Listed below are three (3) opportunities for tuition assistance along with the procedures and requirements necessary to obtain assistance for the 2022-2023 school year. It is recommended that you apply as soon as possible. All steps should be taken to maximize your tuition assistance benefit.

Seton School Tuition Assistance Program

Seton Catholic School uses FACTS for the determination of tuition assistance available through the school. A family must apply each year to qualify for assistance.  Paper applications are NO LONGER available.  An electronic online application must be completed and submitted directly to FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment at www.online.factsmgt.com/aid. The final deadline to apply for tuition assistance is April 15, 2022.

 Families will need to upload:

  • A copy of your family’s 2020 or 2021 federal tax return. If the family does not file a tax return, they can indicate that on the application.

  • Copies of 2021 W-2 forms

Please apply as soon as you have the necessary documents to upload.

John Lancaster Spalding Scholarship Fund

Tuition assistance scholarship grants from the Spalding Endowment Fund, established by the Diocese of Peoria, will once again be available for the 2022-2023 school year. The Diocese will use the same FACTS application submitted for assistance from Seton, but please note that the Diocese requires 2021 tax returns as supporting documents (not 2020 or 2021 as Seton will accept). The protocols, procedures and a checklist to guide families through the application process can be found at www.cdop.org/why-choose-catholic-schools/financial-assistance. The final deadline to apply for the John Lancaster Spalding Scholarship is April 30, 2022.

Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program

Seton families have an opportunity to benefit from the Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program formed under the Invest in Kids Act (IIK) (Public Act 100-0465).  Students (kindergarten thru 12th grade) from low-income households can apply for scholarships for the 2022-2023 school year beginning January 12, 2022. These scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis; so do not delay in applying

Your family could receive a scholarship that covers 50-100% of tuition and eligible fees for the next school year!  From January 13, 2022 to April 1, 2022 priority will be given to students who are members of households whose annual income falls in line with the chart provided on the Empower Illinois website, who reside within an under-performing focus district, and, who are siblings of students currently receiving a scholarship. After April 1, all other qualifying students will be able to receive scholarships. Eligibility to receive a scholarship is based on your family’s household income.  Online applications will be a two-part process beginning January 12, 2022 at 6:30p.m. at www.empowerillinois.org.

 Families will need to upload:

  • A copy of your family’s 2020 or 2021 federal tax return. If the family did not file a tax return, please visit the Empower Illinois website for direction.

  • Proof of Illinois residency (i.e. current driver’s license or state ID, or current utility bill)

  • A birth certificate, federal or state ID, or passport for your student(s)

FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment Service is an independent company that assists schools in processing and evaluating tuition assistance applications for both the John Lancaster Spalding and Seton’s Tuition Assistance Program. FACTS is used by all the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Peoria. Families only need to complete one (1) FACTS application if you have students attending both Seton and Alleman High School. Please make sure all children from your family and the schools they attend are listed in Section 2 of the FACTS application.

Families who have questions or would like assistance completing either the FACTS Application or the Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Application may contact Seton’s business manager, Mrs. Karla Larsen at klarsen@setonschool.com or (309) 764-5418.
