October

Dear Parents,

Our 8th grade class is off to a great start.  We are continuing to work on organization.  Please continue at your end to check those assignment notebooks, sign and return tests, and monitor work done at home.

This month all focus is on health.  We hope that your student can make the following a routine:

  • Snack Right  - Eat fruits, nuts, granola bars, etc. (Cheetos and chips are not the food of champions)

  • Turn off the TV  -  Don’t eat or study while watching.

  • Exercise  -  It helps oxygen flow to the brain and muscles.  (Run, walk, bike, or do chores)

  • Sleep  -  Eight hours minimum. Ten is recommended for both brain power and physical energy.

September

Dear Parents,

Welcome to 8th grade!  We, Kevin Herbert, Sheila Moreno, and Pat Voss are looking forward to a very successful year with your students.  This monthly newsletter is one way to keep you informed on academics, behavior, and fun activities.

Our focus for September will be on ORGANIZATION of students’ time and materials. The following tips are what can do at home to be a partner in the educational process:

  • Color code textbooks and notebooks.  (Ex: Cover the Science book in green and use a green notebook to match.)

  • Organize a quiet and productive study area at home.

  • Set aside a certain time for homework.

  • Check to make sure your student is using the assignment notebook.

  • Always keep a positive attitude

Organization and time management reduces stress and keeps the entire family running smoothly.

 UPCOMING ACTIVITIES

  •  September 15th - 25th  ITBS  Testing. Students should get adequate sleep and eat a good breakfast.

  •  October 10th  -  Springfield Field Trip. More details coming soon.
