Mrs. Kelly's Religion Curriculum

jesusloves

Second grade is a very important year in the Catholic faith. In addition to the lessons in their textbook, the children will be prepared for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. Many Saints and Holy Days will be celebrated.  The students will also participate in masses, special prayer services and service projects.

Second graders will pray and learn two new prayers during second grade:
The Act of Contrition
and
The Prayer to the Holy Spirit.

Act of Contrition

My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong
And failing to do good,
I have sinned against You
Whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help,
to do penance,
to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ
suffered and died for us.
In His name, my God have mercy.

Amen

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit, Fill the hearts of Your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your spirit and they shall be created and You shall renew the face of the earth.

I encourage you to pray these with your child as you pray each day together.
