Mrs. Kelly's Classroom Expectations

I have set up an assertive discipline plan for our class that I feel will work well. It is my belief that children need a warm, secure and comfortable atmosphere for the best learning to take place. In order to provide that kind of environment, a teacher must make it clear to the students what is expected of them. The students should understand the classroom rules and know the consequences that result when those rules are not followed.

There are four simple classroom rules:
1. Work quietly
2. Raise your hand before speaking
3. Be kind to each other
4. Always follow the teacher's directions

The consequences of having tickets taken away in one day are:
1 ticket-warning
2 tickets-loss of recess
3 tickets-note home
4 tickets-visit to principal's office

The children all begin each day with all four tickets.

The rules and consequences are posted in the room and we discussed them on the first day of school. However, your cooperation is vital if the plan is to work. Please help your child understand that you are working with me to help him/her learn and that you will expect him/her to obey the rules. By showing your approval of good behavior you will help eliminate any unacceptable behavior which will help establish a positive and productive learning environment.

Thank you for your support.
