Classroom Procedures

Homeroom procedure for the start of the day -
1. Check to make sure you have these:
  - Any notes/correspondence from home
  - All materials needed for first period class
2. Turn in any box tops, milk caps, soup labels, used printer cartridges, and old cell phones.
3. Go directly to your seat and stay quiet.
4. Wait for attendance, lunch count, announcements, etc.

Procedure for the start of each class period -
1. Go directly to your seat.
2. Check to make sure you have these:
  - The right textbook
  - Pen, Pencil, Red Correcting Pen, Paper (Sharpen pencil now, not after class has begun)
  - Your notebook
  - Your homework assignment out and on the desk
  - An extra, personal reading book
3. Need to use the restroom? Do so now.
4. Check board - Begin problem/question/work. If nothing is on the board, use personal reading book.
5. You must be in your seat when the bell rings.
6. Keep working until my signal to do something else.

Procedure for the end of each day/class period -
1. Remember - The bell does not dismiss you.
2. You do not dismiss the class.
3. Pick up in and around your desk.
  - Fill in your assignment notebook.
  - Listen for last minute instructions from the teacher.
4. When the teacher is ready you will be dismissed.

What to do if you want help or to contribute to class discussion -
  ~ RAISE YOUR HAND ~

What to do if the teacher wants your attention -
When you see my hand, hear my voice or hear the bell:
1. Freeze - Immediately
2. Turn and face me.
3. Listen for instruction or advice.

What do I do next? Activities -
If you finish your class work early, there are a number of allowed activites you can do:
1. Work on unfinished/makeup assignments.
2. Read a good book - personal reading book.
3. Work on a book report.
4. Make a book on the computer.
5. Make a crossword puzzle or a word find with the lesson's vocabulary words.
6. Draw a picture or make a card for for someone by drawing a picture of what you think a character in a story looks like.
7. Write you vocabulary words 3 times.
8. Write a poem or a story to submit for publishing.
9. Write a letter.
10. Figure out ways you can make the world better.

*NOTICE*
Playing with toys, horseplay, walking around the room without permission or talking loudly with your classmates are not on this list!
