My classroom rules are pretty basic. They are much the same as those learned as early as kindergarten. We should all be good to each other always. In other words, the Golden Rule always applies. My classroom goals are as follows:
1. The Golden Rule - Treat others as you would like to be treated.
2. The Silver Rule - This is our classroom, but the teacher has been placed in charge of it.
3. Respect -
- Parents, teachers, each other, yourself.
- The property of others and of the school.
- Speak positively and respectfully.
- Personal space. (An arm's length)
4. Work Ethic -
- Always keep working.
- When you finish your work, recheck it for errors.
- Read your personal reading book.
- Remember: Games and horseplay are not considered working.
5. Listening -
- You cannot hear if you are talking.
- If the teacher is talking it's probably important.
- Listen to classmates who have permission to talk.
6. Cleanliness -
- Clean the desk, floor, and area around you before leaving the room.
- Backpacks and coats go in your locker.
- Work on your hygiene. (Otherwise it's not fair to the rest of us!)
7. Common Sense -
- When all else fails or you are not sure what to do, remember the Silver
Rule.
