Daily homework is almost a given in math. When possible the students will be given time at the end of class to begin their homework so that I may check for understanding. When a student does come home with homework he or she should have with them the notes and examples that were given in class.
If a student gets home and finds that they are confused about what they are doing I would ask that you do the following?
1. Ask them if they have their notes (process and examples).
2. Do they have their workbook study guide (which provides ex.)?
If your student has these things and is still confused please have them put the work away and come in and see me in the morning before classes begin. They are often not alone.
If your student comes home to do homework and does not bring the necessary tools to help do the work, I would first ask that you discuss this with him/her. Write me a brief note and then have your child see me in the morning before classes begin.
Daily homework is not taken for a letter grade. I only give participation points for daily work. It is typically 2 to 5 points depending on the amount of work involved. In the event that you need to contact me, please feel free to call me at school (764-5418) or email me at mmeersman@setonschool.com.
