SOS

Watch for monthly SOS notices coming home in the student's book bag. Insert them into the family folder. Please read and review often.

Reminders…

  • Continue to study your basic math facts over the summer.

  • Summer math packs will be available.

  • Please remember to visit your local library over the summer. Many of them offer summer reading programs, too!

Study Skills…

  • Study for Tests!!

  • Maintaining Study Skills - We know summer is near, and it's hard to focus when it is so beautiful outside. However, it is very important to keep up with homework, studying, and school in general.

Parents Can Help By…

  • Conducting a year-end clean-up. Encourage your child to go through and sort out book bags and folders to get rid of old papers and notes.

  • Make sure your child is prepared to end the year. Have all library books been returned? Have all lunch expenses been paid? Etc.

  • Helping your child to study - whether it's daily homework, quizzes, or tests - they can always use the help!

Physical Fitness Day and the Class Picnic are quickly approaching! Please watch for information to come home about these events!

Look at What We’re Studying…

  • Religion: Parts of the Mass

  • Reading: Continuing Theme 4 “People to People”

  • Math: Adding, Subtracting, and Multiplying Decimals

  • English: Pronouns and Demonstrations

  • Science: Ch. 2 - "Atoms and Elements"; Forces

  • Social Studies: Revolutionary War; the Constitution; Westward Movement

Reminders…

  • Study multiplication facts a few minutes each day.

  • Study spelling words for weekly spelling tests.

  • Getting enough sleep and eating well is important for effective studying!

Study Skills…

  • Use assignment notebook when packing the book bag.

  • Use time wisely. Much of your homework can be completed in school.

  • Sequencing and preparing an oral presentation

Parents Can Help By…

  • Conducting a weekly clean-up. Encourage your child to go through and sort out book bags and folders each weekend to get rid of old papers and notes.

  • Helping your child develop organizational skills by giving him/her gentle reminders about keeping papers and material organized. Most importantly, set a good example.

  • Check to see if your child is in need of any school supplies. Many students are missing necessary items!!

  • Please make sure that your child is completing and turning in homework after an absence. Many students are having trouble remembering to do this.

  • Social Studies: Early Exploration

Reminders…

  • Study multiplication facts.

  • Study spelling words for weekly spelling tests.
  • Don’t overwhelm yourself. Break your homework down into manageable chunks and take it one step at a time. Take breaks if needed!

Study Skills…

  • Fill out assignment notebook every day.

  • Work on maintaining neatness of desks, cubbies, and book bags.

  • Adequately and accurately studying for tests and being able to form short answers with complete sentences.

Parents Can Help By…

  • Continue to check your child’s book bag, folders, and assignment notebook nightly.

  • Before going to bed, help your child to pack schoolwork and books in the book bag. Have clothes ready and laid out with all accessories. This will cut down on morning confusion and allow your child to prepare for a successful day ahead. J

  • Science: Continue Living Systems
  • Social Studies: Early Civilizations

Reminders…

  • Study multiplication facts.

  • Study spelling words for weekly spelling tests.
  • Don’t save the hardest homework assignment for last. Instead, work from the hardest to the easiest.

Study Skills…

  • Fill out assignment notebook every day.

  • Work on maintaining neatness of desks, cubbies, and book bags.

  • Listen to and follow directions.

  • Gather all supplies and be ready to switch classes.

Parents Can Help By…

  • Continue to check your child’s book bag and folders nightly.

  • Continue to check your child’s assignment notebook nightly to verify that homework has been completed.

  • Get plenty of rest.
