Homework Policy
Rationale: To develop study skills and responsibility
Recommended Study Time: 20 minutes each school night
Parent Expectations: Always provide supervision and
assistance when necessary
Weekly Homework Requirements
- A photocopied story will be sent home weekly to
practice the week's phonics skills. Have your child read the story, complete
the worksheet and return the next day.
- Practice math facts to help with mastering facts.
Begin with addition and then move on to subtraction. Use flashcards to
practice or the sample test as a guide.
- Review spelling words weekly. The Pretest is given on
Mondays. If a list "does not make it home" please contact me. Spelling tests
are given on Fridays.
- Students will keep a Reading Log. They may choose
books from school or home, and should keep track of completed books.
Please keep the log in his/her "Take Home Folder".
- The reader will be sent home at least once per week.
Have your child read the story of the week and retell it in their own words.
Use the questions at the end of the story for a comprehension check.
- When the religion book is brought home, please guide
your child on reviewing for an upcoming test. A study sheet will also be
sent home.
