Fourth Grade Pioneer Day

Fourth grade participated in a field trip to the Pioneer Village in Walnut Grove in October 2007. The students started the day at St. Anne's Church with prayer and history of the village. They attended class in a one room schoolhouse. The 4th graders toured the General Store, town businesses, and saw a blacksmith at work in the Blacksmith Shop. They learned about cabin living and snacked on freshly popped corn. Pioneer toys and games were taught to the children. The students climbed in a train car and hiked through the woods to find the prairie. They shared their sack lunches and had a special ice cream treat at the soda shop. Pioneer life was experienced by all!
