RELIGION FOCUS…

This month especially, we remind our students that we are all called to be holy.  We will emphasize what it means to live out that holiness in a religious vocation.

October 4th is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.  The students will be reminded about his special love for the Lord and all of creation. St. Francis leads us into another important theme for the month: Respect for Life. This basic belief of our faith is dealt with at age-appropriate levels with all our students and will be a constant theme of our prayers.

We will also be spending class time learning about the rosary, as this is the Month of the Rosary. All parents and family members are welcome to come and pray the rosary with us on Friday, October 12th at 2:00 p.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Our 8th graders will lead us in prayer that day.

PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN

Safe Environment Curriculum…In past years all homeroom teachers taught specific and separate lessons in the month of October regarding “touching safety.”  We are now reviewing a new and integrated curriculum called, “Safe Environment Curriculum.”  This will cover many of the same concepts as before, but is an integrated pre-school through 8th grade approach that Mrs. Barrett will explain at the next Parents’ Club and Booster Club meetings.  Please come and join us on:

SOS

Seton’s Organizational and Study Skills Plan…Our plan for this year is to make sure that all parents are informed and involved in supporting our students.  Our goal is that all Seton children will develop solid study and organizational skills that will enable them to be successful students and people.  We can only accomplish this goal with good communication between home and school and constant parental support and guidance.

  • Please be vigilant, no matter what your child’s age.
  • Please read the monthly study skills newsletters and place them in your S.O.S. binder for easy reference.
  • Please do not hesitate to call and ask if you have questions.

LIBRARY CHECK OUT, FINES AND RETURN BOOK POLICY

Elementary School students may check out books for one week. Middle School students may check out books for two weeks.

When elementary students are finished with their books, they should return them to the book bin in their classroom. Students will not be allowed to check out another book until any overdue book is returned.

All books may be renewed: One additional week for the elementary and two additional weeks for the middle school.

If a book is not returned when due, students will be given a one-week grace period. Then a fine of five cents per school day will start.

Overdue book lists and fines will be sent to the homerooms weekly. Students can return the fines to the homeroom teacher or to the office to be forwarded to the library.

Fines will continue to increase until materials are returned to the library.

If fines are not paid two weeks after they are assessed, a note will be sent to the principal.

If a book is lost or damaged, students will be responsible to pay for the replacement.

FUNDRAISING BUYOUT REMINDER…

If you would like to make a donation of $250 to cover your family’s annual fund raising donations to various Seton activities, please use the “buy out” coupon located in the front of your tuition payment booklet.  The “buy out” option was introduced in response to those parents who indicated they would prefer that way of giving to the school.  Fund raising accounts for more than 8% of Seton’s annual budget.  The “buy out” option is in place of a family’s monetary donations to Seton fund raisers.  Volunteering time and talents to fund raisers is encouraged regardless of monetary donations.  The “buy out” is optional, and as always, your gifts to Seton are tax deductible and are very much appreciated.
