RELIGION FOCUS…

The month of November begins with All Saints Day. Please join us on Thursday, November 1st for an all school mass at 10:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. This is a special day set aside to call to mind all the holy men and women who have gone before us into heaven. We know they continue to care for us and pray for us every day. Their lives remind us that we are also called to be holy. We are called to be the whole and unique person that God creates each of us to be.

November is also a time to give thanks for our many blessings. Teachers will help the students reflect on how much we have to be thankful for at Seton. At the same time, as the weather grows cold and the holidays draw close, we will pray for those who lack the basic necessities of life.

We wish you and your families a very blessed Thanksgiving holiday.

ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL CONCERNS

Those dropping off and picking up students either in the morning or afternoon are reminded to adhere to all established traffic safety laws and not DOUBLE OR TRIPLE PARK or drop off/pick up students in the middle of the street.

Also, the driveway in front of Culemans Hall is blocked off so students can safely cross between the elementary building and Culemans Hall and families are asked to NOT pull around the barricades. On certain days, the barricades may not be up due to parish events in the hall. On those occasions, you are reminded to not park in the handicapped spots or block the drive by parking in the fire lane.

As all families are aware, the traffic congestion at these two particular times can be quite frustrating. But, for the safety of every Seton student, parents are asked to adhere to these rules. Your cooperation in this important matter is appreciated.

CAFETERIA AND PLAYGROUND MONITORS NEEDED…

We are still in need of adults to work as cafeteria and playground monitors.  Even if you can only work a couple days each week we could use your help.  These are paid positions and the hours are from 11:15 to 1:15.  Please call 757-5500 and talk to Jane Barrett if you are interested.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES…

Information regarding PTS Conferences for the elementary and the middle school students has been sent home. If you have not received this information, please check with your student(s). If you have any questions, please contact either school office.  Conference dates are: Wednesday, November 7th in the evening and Thursday, November 8th daytime and evening.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS NEEDED…

We are still in need of substitute teachers. If you are qualified and would like to help us out, please call either school office.

AFTER SCHOOL CONCERNS…

Between sports practices and games, band practices, and scout activities, after school events are kicking into high gear! Parents are reminded that when one child in a family has after school practices/activities the other siblings are not allowed to wait for them unattended on the school grounds. Students must be picked up NO LATER THAN 3:15 p.m.

Pack 109 is off to a rolling start this year with 60 young scouts now part of the

organization. We’re pleased to have several families from Lincoln-Irving now part of our growing pack.

And November brings us to the Illowa Council’s Saukenuk Roller Skating Party. All scouts and their families are invited to attend from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Skate City.

A huge thank-you to the Seton families who supported our scouts during this year’s popcorn sales. The totals are not yet in, but we’re confident that we’ve had another successful year. Popcorn sales are our Scouts’ only fund-raiser and help support all the activities we do as well as the awards our boys receive from various achievements in scouting. Thanks again.

Other events this month include:

* Popcorn pickup, 12-4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, at The DeWitts, 2212 11th Ave., Moline.

* November Pack Meeting will be on Monday, Nov. 26.
