Parent's Club September Minutes

September 11, 2007

Janine Parr welcomed everyone to the joint meeting of Parents' Club and Booster Club. All officers for each club were introduced.

Mrs. VanderVennet led everyone in Prayer.

Janine announced that the Vice-President position still needs to be filled for the Booster Club. Moms are invited to participate.

Everyone in attendance was asked to introduce themselves.

Janine stated the purpose of the Parents Club

1.       Parents club serves as a channel between Home and School.  She encouraged everyone to become involved and attend meetings.

2.       Raise funds for Seton

Steve Polito stated the purpose of the Booster Club

1.       Run – Organize – Finance the Athletic Program at Seton

2.       3 types of teams – Sponsored, Co-sponsored & Affiliated Programs

3.       Seton still has a No Cut Policy which encourages many students to participate.  He also encouraged everyone to attend Booster Club meetings.

4.        Fundraising events are held thru out the year.

Parents Club fundraiser committee members reported on different fundraisers.

Use Uniform Sale & Welcoming Committee: Cathy Caparula

1.       8/16/07 New Family Open House was an overall success

2.       Used Uniform Sale reported income of $870

SCRIP: Angie Dussliere explained this ongoing fundraiser and reported 149 families participated last year earning the school $1600 with a goal of increasing those numbers this year.

Room Parents & Staff Appreciation: Kathy Malcolm

1.       Room Parents – Explained the purpose of the contact room parent

2.       Staff Appreciation luncheon taken over by parents club last year was a great success and will continue this year during Catholic Schools Week.

Library Consolidation: Connie Dowsett Tadda reported that the two libraries were consolidated with the future goal of computerizing the library.  The libraries will be staffed by volunteers 5 days a week from 8 – 2:30.  Library is open and both students and teachers are adjusting well.

Fall Fundraiser Dinner & Auction: Leslee Schueneman reported that planning is going well.  They are still looking for silent auction items and also volunteers to join the committee for next fall.

* Correspondence was passed around the room.

* Paul Schmitt reported on the New School Year’s budget, also stating that Parents Club donated $98,000 to Seton last year.

*No New Business.

*Janine turned over the floor to the Booster Club.
