PreKindergarten Program

Seton School provides a Catholic PreKindergarten Program where children feel comfortable, happy, and successful. It is a place where they can expand their capabilities, enjoy learning, and have fun with their peers. Our PreKindergarten is designed to encourage intellectual, spiritual, emotional, social, and physical development, according to the philosophy and objectives already in use at Seton Catholic School.

Our PreKindergarten provides a safe and trusting atmosphere for all children. Growth and development flourish, as each is encouraged to explore new surroundings and develop creative expression. Through curiosity, free play, and new learning activities, a child's self esteem and self-confidence are promoted, and social and language skills are developed.

In an atmosphere of Christian love, each child is treated in a respectful manner by the teachers and staff, and is encouraged to respect the rights of others by treating each other in a gently way. Students are encouraged to accept the needs of others through cooperative play with emphasis on good manners and sharing.

The curriculum includes reading and math readiness, phonics, social studies, science, music, art, technology, physical education, and religion. The children participate in activity centers within a structured class schedule so that their natural love of learning is incorporated into their transition to student life. Hands-on learning experiences are provided with numerous enrichment and fun-filled activities.

The PreKindergarten program is a five-day a week program and serves children who are 4 years old by September 1. It is located on the Seton Catholic School campus in the Early Childhood Center within Culemans Hall. The morning session is 8:15 am to 11:00 am. The afternoon session is 12:15 pm to 3:00 pm. Teachers are degreed or certified by the Illinois Department of Education.

A copy of a child's birth certificate must be presented when registering a child. Children are required by law to have a current physical examination.
